Chicken Liver Pâté for baby or toddler
Suitable from 6 months

Use the freshest chicken livers and cook them on day of purchase. This is an excellent source of iron for your baby or toddler.

350 g fresh chicken livers
2 tablespoons butter or oil
10 cm piece of celery (pale, inner stalk)
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Optional: leaves from 2 sprigs fresh thyme
¼ cup water

  • Trim fat or white sinew from chicken livers,
  • Gently heat butter or oil in a frying pan. Add finely chopped celery, parsley and (optional) thyme.
  • Cook, stirring, on moderate heat for a few minutes. Add chicken livers. Cook, stirring often, for about 8 minutes. Add water. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
  • For the smoothest texture put cooked livers through a mouli (food mill), or rub through a sieve, or blend in a food processor. Mix to a soft paste with a little boiled water to give a moist, spreading consistency.
